Our legal responsibilities

As the UK's leading independent manufacturer of business telephones, we at Interquartz understand the importance of keeping up-to-date with all the current regulations relating to our industry. On this page you can read and download statements of our compliance with CE, WEEE and RoHS regulations. Please contact us if you require any more information.

WEEE - Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive
The WEEE directive aims to minimise the impact of electrical and electronic goods on the environment by increasing re-use and recycling, and reducing the amount of WEEE going into landfill. It seeks to achieve this by making producers responsible for financing the treatment and recovery of waste electrical equipment and by obliging distributors to allow consumers to return their waste equipment free of charge. Interquartz are fully compliant with the directive and have registered with Repic Ltd. Our registration number is WEE/HK0057TS.
RoHS - Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive
The RoHS Directive stands for "the restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment". This Directive bans the placing on the EU market of new electrical and electronic equipment containing more than agreed levels of lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyl (PBB) and polybrominated diphenyl ether (PBDE) flame retardants.

As a manufacturer Interquartz understands the requirements of the RoHS Directive and has re-engineered all its products to ensure that they comply.
CE - EU Electrical safety regulations
CE marking, also known unofficially as "CE Mark" or "EC Mark" is a mandatory mark for around 70% of the products sold on the European Union (EU) market plus Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland (total 28 countries) and it is often referred to as the "Trade Passport to Europe" for non-EU products.

EU legislation makes EU importers liable for the products they import. CE Marking requires a number of standards to be adhered to on the products. In the case of telephones:

Safety:-      EN60950: 1992 inc. amendments 1, 2, 3, 4 & 11
EMC:-        EN55022: 1998 Class B & EN55024: 1998
Telecom:- EN301437: 1999 & CTR38

All Interquartz products are fully compliant.
ISO9001 - Interquartz (UK) Ltd
ISO9000 is a generic name given to a family of standards developed to provide a framework around which a Quality Management System can effectively be implemented.
