INTERQUARTZ (UK) LTD has unlocked new potential in the mobile phone market with a secure key that is activated remotely by a free phone call.

The Interquartz GSM Key can be used to open electric gates and barriers, activate a burglar or fire alarm, control security shutters and switch on heaters and lighting in the workplace or at home.

It utilises telephones unique caller ID and, on receiving a call, does not answer but operates whatever piece of equipment to which it is linked. It can be programmed to accept up to 250 mobile phones per unit and could, for instance, be used by a company to allow their staff to open the car park gates without having to leave their car.

This eradicates the associated costs and inconvenience of the loss or theft of key fobs or proximity cards. It also enhances the personal security of employees where business premises are in high crime areas.

The GSM Key can be configured quickly and easily using the free Windows application that ships with it. Once installed, users can be added or removed instantly from the GSM key’s memory, simply by texting updates to its directory.

The GSM Key will also monitor a burglar, fire or smoke alarm, texting you if it goes off or progressively calling you and up to seven other people. It is also possible to send a text message to the GSM Key to switch lighting or other electrical equipment on or off.
