Interquartz UK, which has already sold over 2 million of its highly durable handsets, is introducing four models under the new Vulcan brand. Each model is manufactured to withstand harsh or extreme conditions with standard features including mild or stainless steel fascias, electro-zinc plated (zintec) chassis, chrome armoured cords and handsets manufactured from highly durable heat and solvent resistant Polybutylene terephthalate (PBT) and polycarbonate.
“Not only do these Vulcan models offer exceptional durability in the face of even the most challenging of manufacturing and production environments, they do so at a highly affordable price, typically significantly lower than those already on the market,” said Steve Watts Interquartz UK’s general manager. “These are hard wearing, strong phones at easy-on-the-wallet prices.”
The workhorse of the range is the Vulcan LC, offered in high-vis yellow and featuring a 16 button diecast zinc alloy engraved keypad with four programmable memory keys. It also comes equipped with auto-reporting which checks service status and an optional reporting system that reports issues like jammed, glued, broken or stolen handsets. Intelligent call barring and fraud prevention also minimise the risk of misuse. A “hotdial” version without a keypad is also available.
For damp, humid or dusty environments the company offers the Vulcan IP66, a model which exceeds the standards of Ingress Protection Rating 66 to guarantee it is fully dust-tight and offers effective resistance to water jets and wave spray. Housed within a tough aluminium alloy cabinet fitted with a spring lock door and internal seals, it offers many of the features of its LC counterpart, including auto-fault reporting and a 16 button keypad with a waterproof membrane elastomeric mat. A “hotdial” version without a keypad is also now available.
